The Disability Ministries Committee has gathered resources to help your congregation grow in its disability awareness and to be in ministry with people who have disabilities. If you have suggestions for additional United Methodist resources, please contact the DMC.

Camps

Camping offers children, youth, and adults a chance to encounter God in the natural world, in the love shared in community, and in stories told around the campfire. Resource links at this site can help your camp and campers’ experiences be accessible and inclusive. The Disability Ministries Committee may provide training to camp staff through United Methodist Camp and Retreat Leaders Gatherings.

Christian Education |Teens & Adults | Children & Youth

The Christian Education pages have practical suggestions to include children, teens and adults with physical, mental and intellectual disabilities in Sunday school and church. In addition, there are curriculum and success stories and ideas to maximize your ministries with people who have autism, down syndrome, and cognitive or intellectual disabilities. There are also presentations and a theology essay to use with adult forums.
